The Pro Vice Chancellor of University of Cape Coast, Professor George K.T Oduro says the current conditions in sub-Saharan Africa demand new methods in post graduate education.
He indicates to solve social, economic and political challenges in Ghana, post graduate education must focus on equipping students to face and solve these challenges.

As the European association for quality assurance in higher education workshop report number 12 articulates, owing to the challenge of managing to astronomical increase in post graduate education enrollment in the universities, the need to review the objective, modalities and contents of post graduate education has emerged as a new priority.

Prof. Oduro highlighted the importance for post graduate education to embrace research topics that solve global issues for development and impact the future.
“Post graduate studies is expected not only to demonstrate the intellectual feats achieved by students but more importantly, the relevance of the research contents to particular profit or service industry. The choice of research topics must be informed by the needs of the industry and other patrons of research findings. Thus the universities in sub-Saharan Africa need to do things differently in the delivery of post graduate education”.
