YEG SUSU ENTERPRISE donates to support GRASAG-UCC’s PAD UP Project for Girls with Disability

YEG Susu Enterprise, a renowned Susu collection company operating in and around the Cape Coast metropolis, has stepped forward to generously support the GRASAG-UCC sanitary pad project, known as PAD UP. This initiative aims to provide sanitary pads to girls with disabilities while also educating them on menstrual hygiene management.

The Cape Coast School of the Deaf has been selected as the beneficiary of this inaugural project undertaken by GRASAG-UCC. It is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of these young girls and promote their well-being.

YEG, led by CEO Mr. Gyasi Yeboah, demonstrated their commitment to social responsibility by donating funds to contribute to the PAD UP project. Their support will play a crucial role in ensuring that these girls receive the necessary sanitary products and knowledge to manage their menstrual hygiene effectively.

After a hiatus of more than a year, the leadership of GRASAG-UCC is excited to bring this invaluable resource back to life.

EXTENSION OF DEADLINE FOR THE SAMUEL & EMELIA BREW-BUTLER/SGS/GRASAG RESEARCH GRANT APPLICATIONS.

Attention all second-year postgraduate research students (MPhil, MCOM, MN, PhD), the leadership of the Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG-UCC) has successfully lobbied for an extension of the deadline for the Samuel and Emelia Brew-Butler/SGS/GRASAG-UCC Research Grant application. The new deadline is now April 28th, 2023.

If you meet the eligibility criteria and have obtained a CGPA of 2.5 and above but still have ICs, or if you have already applied for transcripts but have not yet received them, you can still apply by attaching a copy of your transcript receipt to the supporting documents required for the application.

OPENING OF ONLINE PORTAL FOR GRASAG BURSARY REGISTRATION

Dear postgraduate students,

The Leadership of the Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG-UCC) would like to inform you that the online portal for the 2022/2023 academic year bursary application is now open. The bursary registration period begins today, April 25, 2023, and ends on Sunday, April 30, 2023.

To ensure a successful bursary registration, please take note of the following:

  • Applicants must be a registered postgraduate student of a GRASAG-UCC.
  • Applicants must have the following documents or information ready and uploaded for the online bursary registration: Student ID card, Admission letter, National ID card (Ghana card/Passport), and an ABSA bank account number.
  • Click on this link https://www.absa.com.gh/personal/save/ignition-account/ to get an ABSA bank ignition account or visit any ABSA bank nationwide if you don’t have one.
  • Click the registration link https://grasagbursary.com to register.

Here are the steps for the bursary application process:

  1. Click on the link grasagbursary.com to access the bursary application portal.
  2. Click on the “Verify Details” button and enter your student ID number and active email address.
  3. Check your email for the temporary password sent to you and use it to log into the portal along with your student ID.
  4. Once logged in, select the “Profile” option on the dashboard to upload your bank details and all the necessary personal details required.
  5. Click on the upload files option to upload a picture of your student ID, national ID, and admission letter.
  6. After submitting all your details, your profile progress status will turn green, indicating that you have completed the necessary steps.
  7. Finally, submit the form and wait for feedback from the bursary provider.

Please note that you can only receive payment if you have registered online and had all necessary supporting documents vetted and approved.

GRASAG-UCC HEALTH DAY

The leadership of GRASAG-UCC organized an exciting and engaging event for postgraduate students on March 18th, 2023. The event included a health walk, aerobic exercise, and health screening to promote healthy living among the postgraduate community.

The health walk was a refreshing way for the students to kickstart their weekend, with participants walking through the beautiful UCC campus while enjoying the cool morning breeze. The aerobic exercise session that followed was energetic and fun-filled, led by experienced fitness trainers who ensured that everyone got moving and grooving to the beat.

As a bonus attraction, the event featured a delicious kenkeyfest that added a touch of Ghanaian culture to the event. Students indulged in this delicacy, while bonding and socializing with each other.

The event was a resounding success, with many postgraduate students turning out to participate in the various activities. The highlight of the day was the presence of the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, Professor Mrs. Sarah Darkwa, who graced the occasion with her presence. GRASAG-UCC hopes to organize more events like this in the future to promote healthy living and foster a sense of community among postgraduate students.

GRASAG-UCC CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY ’23

On Tuesday, March 7th, 2023 and Wednesday, March 8th, 2023, GRASAG-UCC and Centre for Gender Research, Advocacy & Documentation (CEGRAD-UCC) jointly celebrated International Women’s Day at the Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang Auditorium.

The celebration was marked with speeches, panel discussions, and the launch of the pad up project by the wocom, showcasing the importance of gender equality and empowerment. The event was a powerful reminder of the need to continue working towards a world where women are treated with respect, dignity, and equality. We are proud to have been a part of such an incredible celebration, and we look forward to continuing to support gender equality and women’s empowerment in the future.

LEADERSHIP OF GRASAG-UCC PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO THE PRO-VC

On February 23, 2023, the leadership of GRASAG UCC paid a courtesy visit to the esteemed Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mrs. Boohene. The aim of the visit was to address a variety of pressing concerns that were impacting postgraduate students. This meeting provided an excellent platform for GRASAG UCC to engage with the university’s leadership and work together towards finding sustainable solutions to improve the postgraduate student experience.

NHIS REGISTRATION AND RENEWAL FOR POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS’

On March 9th, 2023, GRASAG-UCC in partnership with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) held a registration and renewal exercise for postgraduate students. The exercise was organized  with the aim of making the registration process more convenient and accessible for postgraduate students. The event was a success, with many students taking advantage of the opportunity to register or renew their NHIS membership.
